Other Cornish Towns to visit

Cornwall has some fabulous historic and scenic towns to go and view....

Other Cornish Towns

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a flexible funding mechanism to improve and manage a clearly defined commercial area. It is based on the principle of an additional levy on all defined ratepayers, following a majority vote. Following a successful vote, the levy becomes mandatory for all defined ratepayers.

The successful BID model has been taken up by more and more UK towns and cities with the number of BIDs standing at over 120. There are five in Cornwall - Truro, Newquay, Falmouth, Camborne and St Austell

In addition there are other interesting towns such as Redruth and Helston run in a different way.

Newquay on Cornwall's Atlantic Coast and has a laid back charm is here for everyone to enjoy. There's a vast array of golden sandy beaches all in close proximity of the town, Newquay Harbour, Trenance Gardens and Trenance Leisure Park, The new Lighthouse Cinema with a brand new open space Piazza opposite as well areas like the Killacourt and Barrowfields - open green spaces in the town for walks and sunbathing.

Falmouth has been shaped and influenced by its strong connection to the sea. A fascinating maritime heritage sits comfortably alongside the creative, building a name for itself as the South West's cultural and festival destinations.

Camborne has a unique industrial heritage, a diverse retail offer, loyal customers and is convenient to use. Camborne had a thriving past and a group of local business people would like to put Camborne back on the map, they want to help transform it into a lively trading community and a place where people want to spend their time and money. Like you, they have invested in their businesses and are proud of their town.

Redruth is the urban centre of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known as the Heart of Cornish Mining. Within easy access of many Cornish destinations, the town centre offers a collection of independent shops, specialising in chic and vintage wares. The pedestrianised area is home to the famous "Welly Dogs", or Tinner's Hounds, and is lined with exquisite early-Victorian architecture. Main attractions include the nearby Mineral Tramways, a series of pathways criss-crossing the scenic mining areas. These can be explored by bike, horse, or on foot. Also worth a look is the Treasure Park - a family favourite where you can pan for gold; the Cornwall Centre - a must for all history buffs; and the cinema and theatre in the town centre.

Helston is a wonderful histroic market town full of proactive and passionate business people. The business community in Helston has demanded clear direction and strong leadership and has formed the Helston Business Improvement Partnership Ltd (HBIP). The Helston BIP is a not-for-profit, membership organisation set up to represent and provide support to all town traders.
