Enjoy Truro

On Monday the 6 of February, it was the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen's Accession to the Throne in 1952. The Queen was only 25 years old when she accessended the throne and although proclaimed Queen immediately, it was a year later that she officially had The Queen's Coronation at Westminster Abbey in June 1953. Accession Day is recognised across the UK nation in many ways, such as Royal Salutes will be fired and services held within churches, to mark the Queen's 60 year reign.

On Saturday the 2nd of June there will be several events on Lemon Quay to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Totally Truro, The Hall for Cornwall, Truro City Council and Truro Food Market will be arranging these fun filled events, including a street party lunch, a high tea and live entertainment to be enjoyed by all. Take pleasure in the atmosphere of bunting decorations, chequered table clothes, Victoria sponges and cucumber sandwiches, along with the clinking of china tea cups! I am sure the odd glass of Pimm's, strawberries and all things regal will go down a treat - whilst we celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The city will be embracing the Queens Diamond Jubilee in style with many free events, from family fun days, music recitals to an amazing fireworks display!

 

There will also be a glamorous black tie gala dinner, 'Sparkle Under the Spire', where Fifteen Cornwall will be catering for the event.

 

There will also be wonderful music with organ recitals and the Truro Cathedral Choir signing to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee. Look out for the Hall for Cornwall's, with the Duchy Ballet presenting Giselle & Jubilation! A new work dedicated to Her Majesty's Diamond Jubliee.

 

The Cathedral shop will be selling Jubilee Souvenir products for those to purchase and remember this special occasion!
