The Cream of Cornwall Showcase event
Music Truro festival reaches the parts (of Truro) others can’t reach
The Cream of Cornwall - and even further afield - brought music to every corner of Truro last week (17 - 22 Oct) as the city buzzed with bands and performers.
Headline events include a Battle of the Bands that launched the week and a Cream of Cornwall Showcase at Bunters Bar.
More cerebral events included the Cornwall Music Industry Forum where questions from promising performers were put to Cornish music industry experts including Rick Rogers, senior lecturer at University College Falmouth and previously manager of The Specials, Two Tone Records and The Damned.
The festival was designed to bring music to every corner of the city and to get people out onto the streets of Truro during their lunch hours and in the evenings.
It was also about variety.
And from acoustic performances with guitar and violin to hard rock and even poetry - including the launch of former mayor Bert Biscoe's Feast of Worms CD - Truro was exposed to a whole range of musical tastes.
The week-long festival brought together Truro's best venues including the Office, Bunters, Vertigo, the cathedral, the Riverbank and the Hall for Cornwall.
Our changing high streets across the UK mean we need to bring a point of difference to Truro and providing a festival like this, bringing music and art and culture to the city streets, really sets us apart.
