Truro Safe needs your help to continue

The Truro Safe Partnership coordinates the teams who operate on a Saturday night and during other festive periods. Funding for the Safe Space team, operated by Cornwall Resus, has been provided through Cornwall Community Foundation's Crime Beat fund and was for a period of two years which runs out in May 2017. As this has proved very successful, various options are being explored to see if this initiative can continue in Truro.

The Street Marshals are funded through Truro City Council, Totally Truro and other donations such as from St. Austell Brewery and the owners of Bunters and the former L2 nightclub.

Other one off donations have also been put towards the scheme from Cornwall Council as well as individual Cornwall Councillors supporting the scheme through their Community Chest Grants. Core funding from the City Council and BID will continue so the marshals will be patrolling during busy periods throughout the year, as funds allow.

While a few local businesses and licensed premises have occasionally contributed towards the provision of the marshals unfortunately many haven't so far so the Truro Safe partners will need to prioritise periods when the marshal will be provided.

If more local businesses were able to support the scheme, the marshals could be out on the streets more frequently. If anyone would like to discuss the scheme with a view of supporting it, please contact Alun Jones, Truro BID Manager via 01872 273 999 or email alun.jones@totallytruro.co.uk
