Cornwall Hospice Care is an independent Cornish charity providing Specialist Palliative Care, the term used to describe the alleviation and management of pain and distressing symptoms, to patients with life limiting conditions.

Every year more than 500 patients are cared for within the in-patient facilities and there are more than 2000 admissions for day treatments and therapies at the two hospices (Mount Edgcumbe, St. Austell and St. Julia's, Hayle). In addition we provide specialist medical input in hospitals in the county.

The staff provide a truly holistic approach, not only giving specialist medical care, but also practical, emotional and spiritual support for patients and their loved ones.

Specialist equipment plus staff costs add up to a £5.3 million annually -equivalent to £11 a minute. The charity receives just 13 per cent of its income from the NHS. - well below the average level of funding amongst hospices in England at 31%.
