10 large canvases will be placed in public sites around the city and will be painted in one day by local artists on the theme of ‘My View of Truro'. Watch the paintings unfold at the following locations: Upper and Lower Lemon Quay; Victoria Square; High Cross; Boscawen Street; Truro Bus Station; Pydar Street; Royal Cornwall Museum; Duke Street; The Leats.
The canvases will then be auctioned off on Thursday 8 April in the Art in the City marquee on Lemon Quay, so if you fancy purchasing a one-off piece of ‘BIG Art', the auction will start at 5pm
Art Fair

Taking place in the ‘Art in the City' marquee on Lemon Quay; many of Truro's galleries, local artists and the Truro Arts Society will be showcasing their artwork during this three day art fair containing a variety of art forms, ranging from paintings and photography to sculpture and jewellery, for sale at affordable prices.
‘My Truro' painting competition
The art competition is open to all on the theme of ‘My Truro' and registration opens on 1 March 2010. Entries can include paintings, drawings, sketches, and collage. This year there will also be a separate category for photography which will be open to all age groups.
A prize will be awarded for each of the following age groups: - 13 and under, 14 - 20, 21 and over, and the photography category.

The art work that is deemed to best encapsulate the theme of the competition will then win the Prize of Prizes - £75 cash prize from Lemon Street Gallery and an exhibition space for the winning piece in the Lander Gallery.
Last year's winner of the ‘My Truro' painting competition was Leonardo Santolamazza. His landscape of the iconic Cathedral city skyline won him an exhibition space in the Lander Gallery and has gone on to exhibit further work in the renowned Truro gallery throughout 2009 and 2010. His winning piece has also been the inspiration for the design of this year's ‘Art in the City' festival guide, using his winning painting on the front cover and throughout the guide.

‘Art in the City' Workshops
New to this year's programme we are offering a range of workshops led by professional artists in the ‘Art in the City' festival marquee on Lemon Quay.
Tuesday 6 April - Children's workshops
Mini metal farm animals 10-12am
Come and make a farm animal that fits in your hand. Use wire and re-cycled materials to build your own creations, keeping with the Truro tradition of the annual livestock show. Puppets with action! 1-2pm
Create a figure and make it move, using card and paper fasteners. Choose a character from Truro's colourful history - it could be a pirate or it could be a painter, a plant collector or a pancake maker! All works can be taken home. A free drop in workshop suitable for 8 - 13 year olds
Collage postcards from home 3-4pm
If you could create and send your own postcard about where you live to anyone, what would you send? Come along and create your own collage postcard inspired by the community around you.

Clay Tile Workshop 10-12pm
