Volunteer Cornwall

Our aim is ‘to promote volunteering throughout the county.' To help with this, we run a number of projects, including:

Timebanking Your Way

A county wide scheme to promote volunteering to young people aged 11-19. Working in partnership with local schools and colleges, organisations such as sports clubs and national projects such as NCS, young people are encouraged to volunteer. For each hour's volunteering they do, they collect a time credit, which can then be redeemed with local businesses, gifted to another person or donated to charity. We currently have over 430 registered young volunteers.

The Viva project supports adults with additional needs in their volunteering. We can support people with learning, physical, sensory or mental disabilities. In addition, we organise a number of ‘friendship clubs' for people with learning disabilities.

Welcome Home
This project organises volunteers to check on people, normally elderly, who have recently been released from hospital. Our volunteers check that the home is safe and that the person has everything they need, including electric and basic food supplies.

Volunteer Transport
Our transport team provides volunteer drivers for people who cannot access public transport, often including transport to doctors or hospital appointments, and taking children in foster care to their schools. We also run the Shopmobility scheme in Truro.

Volunteer Brokerage
One of our main roles is to help organisations find volunteers. We use the do-it website, as well as advertising opportunities through our social media channels and other networks. We have also helped find large numbers of volunteers for one-off events, such as the Tall Ships in Falmouth.

We also run many other smaller scale projects, including corporate and environmental based volunteering and EU partnership work.
