WEA Learning for Life

My name is Heather White and I am the Learning Manager for Cornwall, based in our Truro Office. Much of our provision focuses on courses for people with disabilities or for those who support them. For example, we offer British Sign Language and Makaton classes across the County. We also run regular Lipreading and Managing Hearing Loss groups.

Our Voluntary Members in Cornwall operate from one large branch, Mid-Cornwall, and plan a diverse range of classes each year from Cultural History to Dowsing. Additionally, a variety of day-schools and other activities, such as an annual WEA public lecture are included in the branch programme. You don't have to be a member to join a class - they are open to everyone over 19. The branch is always keen for new people to join them and help develop and promote lifelong learning in the County.

The WEA in Cornwall also works with other organisations, such as schools, employers or voluntary sector organisations to provide courses specially tailored for their local community, employees or users.

We can be contacted on 01872 320036 or emailed via where Julie Calow or I will be pleased to hear your ideas for courses or discuss your requirements.
