About Totally Truro
A Business Improvement District (BID) is a flexible funding mechanism to improve and manage a clearly defined commercial area.
The Truro BID is delivering a range of additional services and initiatives all designed to raise the profile of the city, attract more visitors and encourage them to explore all its facilities.
The BID is funded primarily through a nominal levy equivalent to 1% of rateable value on all properties that are within the District and have a rateable value of over £12,500. Truro's BID became operational in October 2007 and over this five year lifespan generated £1.5 million of additional funding. There are now 428 businesses in Truro that are included in the scheme.
Totally Truro provides the governance for the Newham BID. The Newham BID has its own dedicated committee. After a successful ballot in June 2013, the Newham BID Manager Mel Richardson is delivering the five year plan. Newham BID represents around 100 businesses, which in turn employ over 1,000 people across Newham.
Totally Truro staff
Charla joined Totally Truro in November 2008 as Marketing & Events Officer. Charla organises events throughout the year as well as promoting Truro through marketing materials and PR. You will also regularly see Charla out and about in Truro meeting businesses, taking photos for the website and delivering our great publications and guides as we produce them throughout the year. She is also a keen foodie so if you see her around Truro, I'm sure she'd love to stop and chat over coffee and cake!
Sian joined Totally Truro in January 2012 as Communications Officer and now looks after the enjoytruro website and social media; updating it regularly with all the news and events happening in and around Truro.
The Totally Truro office is based on Fairmantle Street, meaning staff are at the heart of the city centre and best placed to support BID members.
