In 1988 Sam's opened its doors for the very first time as a small burger bar in the centre of Fore Street, Fowey. New owners, Sam and Bill Sixton had recently bought the previous cafe, The Pendragon and decided to transform the cafe into an American diner style bistro.
With Sam recently finishing catering college, his hard work and determination went straight into reforming Sam's into the style of what it is today, with hard wooden floors and booths with music and film memorabilia as far as the eye can see. The building started life as a merchant's house dating from circa 1380 and you can see original features throughout the building and exposed stone walls to one side of the restaurant.
And now Sam's has come to The City! Sam's latest venture brings all the charm and character of Sam's Fowey and Sam's on The Beach to Truro, but with an urban city twist.
