A host of entertainers will be performing from 5.30pm in the city centre to build up the atmosphere before the start of the parade and afterwards, including samba, brass bands with pipe and drum musicians.
The procession starts at the top of Falmouth Road in Truro at 7pm.
The illuminated parade travels down Lemon Street and then turns left on Boscawen Street and proceeds along St Nicholas Street, up River Street where the school children the main parade to the Waterfall Gardens on St George's Road.
The main procession then turns left into Little Castle Street and comes back into the city along Kenwyn Street, through Victoria Square, along Boscawen and Princes Street, before turning right onto Green Street and culminating on Lemon Quay.
As the procession winds through the city, there will be many spots along the way to take in the spectacle and visitors are advised to spread out along the route to get the best view.
There will be a viewing point for disabled visitors at the Royal Cornwall Museum on River Street.
Once the parade reaches Boscawen Street, the action will pause for a countdown to the illumination of the Christmas lights in association with Totally Truro Business Improvement District.
Many of the stewards you see along the route and walking with the parade are students on the BA(Hons) Creative Events Management course at Falmouth University. All the volunteers for Truro City of Lights complete a comprehensive training day and should you need help, please contact any of them wearing a City of Lights event team t-shirts.
This event is non-for-profit and is made possible though the generosity of the public. If you would like to make a donation to this event, please post a cheque to Totally Truro, 56 Fairmantle Street, Truro, TR1 2EG
